If you’ve attended our Maternity Classes during your pregnancy, you recognize the absolute necessity of postnatal care to be able to take good care of your newborn.

Our Well Baby/Well Mother Program is directed by our Women’s Healthcare Department.

Here at Genesis we make it easy for you to schedule these checkups and tests by arranging concurrent checkups for you and your obstetrician and your baby with the pediatrician.

One trip—two checkups—for your convenience.

Alternatively, with our Out Patient clinic open 24/7 you have the option of a walk-in consultation with your gynecologist, should you be in our area and find the opportunity.

Gynecologist follow-up and medical care

For immediate access, our testing services are offered in the same facility that houses your gynecologist, enabling a swift diagnosis and with the pharmacy located nearby, you can fill a prescription for iron tablets.

Post pregnancy nutrition counseling

If your gynecologist believes your metabolism is slowing down and your body is not making good use of the food you are eating, our nutritionist will be brought in to consult and recommend a course of nutrition strategies especially designed to meet your and your baby’s needs.

Weight Gain or Loss

Under the direction of our Wellness Department, Bangalore Genesis Hospital offers a comprehensive Weight Management Program. (If you were under their care during your pregnancy, you will be familiar with their treatment.) Their concept treats weight management as a health issue and provides a permanent solution for you to promote a healthy life style change.

Exercise

Exercise is one of the most important issues in a Postnatal Program. The right kind and amount of exercise will help you get the rest you need and keep you strong to bear the weight of a growing child.

They do get heavy as time goes by and find it so comfortable to be in Mommy’s arms as much as possible.

Rest

Particularly if you are nursing, your gynecologist will not recommend pharmaceutical remedies. Instead Ayurvedic choices may be recommended or a course of meditation.

Emotional Control

Some mothers react to the loss of the baby in their body with Post-Partum Depression. Not uncommon, your gynecologist may schedule a consultation with one of our psychiatrists to help you handle the problem. Various other emotional conditions have been known to appear with new mothers, especially if this is your first child.  We understand and are here to help you deal with the situation. Rest assured, it will be resolved.

Pediatrician examinations, tests, and counseling

Underscoring the need for scheduling a checkup, when your baby was born here at Genesis, our neonatologist scheduled a number of tests to ensure that your baby is well and normal.

These tests will include a battery called Newborn Screening, recommended as a standard medical procedure for new babies.

It was developed to find hidden defects not obvious even to the most practiced physician and needs to be conducted within a 48 hour to 13-day period. If there are abnormal results, our pediatrics team will go to work immediately to take prophylactic action.

It will be good to learn that your baby is normal.

You want to maintain normalcy by attending a schedule of appointments designed for our Well Baby Program that maintains treatments and records as the baby grows.

It will include giving your baby a series of vaccinations as well as recommending a vitamin regimen to insure an acceptable, steady growth rate.

Behavioral counseling is offered as well to help you deal with the extremes that often accompany early childhood development. It will be good to have a professional counselor helping you through some trying times.
